I have to do senior project (graduation requirement) and the requirements are a 6-8 page research paper, a product, 15 hours with a mentor and an 8-10 minute presentation. I will be working on this for the whole year so I have plenty of time and think it’ll be fun. I have two ideas and don’t know which would be better to do.
Option One:
I could do mine on journalism. My product would already be finished because I’ve had an article published in the local newspaper, worked on school newspaper last year and am editor this year. So, my product is just my collection of articles and layouts I created for the school’s online newspaper. My mentor could be either an editor of the local newspaper I know or my journalism teacher. I’m just not sure what I’d write about for the research paper.
Option Two:
I could do mine on child education. The focus of the paper would be a comparison of the standard curriculum for primary education in the U.S. versus other countries. My product would be a new curriculum I create that would be a fusion of montessori learning and accelerated pace. My mentor could be my friend’s mom who taught 1st and 2nd grade. Or I could find someone who teachers primary education currently.
